When you think about sustainability, what do you think of? Probably things like local, organic foods, water conservation, and solar power. These are certainly key components, but comprehensive sustainability is even bigger. It includes community support, employee well-being, sustainable farming practices, working with independent businesses, renewable energy and so much more than that!
We are committed to doing our part to make sure that our business contributes to our community and our environment rather than diminishing them. It is both our ethical responsibility and one of our passions to make the world we live in a more sustainable place.
We care about the world we live in, and we want our children and our grandchildren to be able to live well in a health environment. We understand that every aspect of our operations interacts with the environment, so the steps we take a wide variety of steps to lessen our footprint. These include:
Low flow nozzles on all handwashing sinks for water conservation
Compostable packaging for all our Take Out products
Working with local purveyors whenever possible to limit emissions from product transportation – from local beer to local farmers and beyond
Environmentally friendly cleaning products
We are committed to serving honest, high-quality pizza. We use local produce, and work with in-state and sustainably-minded producers whenever possible to make sure that the food we serve to you is food we are proud to eat and feed our own families. We serve the dirty dozen vegetables organic whenever possible, and avoid GMO food ingredients. There is no hidden corn syrup or added sugar in any of our food. Given all of this, you can trust that the food we feed you is the real thing.
And if you’re curious whether we carry our sustainable aesthetic over to our beverages, we do. We source our beers from local breweries, and select organic, biodynamic and small-batch wines as often as we can. We also work to have little to no waste in our bar program.
Here are some of the companies we work with:
When we say ‘community,’ it means many things to us. In addition to our demonstrated commitment to supporting small, ethical businesses, we believe in providing our employees a safe, positive and growth-oriented work environment, and we stand for a discrimination-free workplace where everyone is welcome and respected. We also contribute to our local communities, specifically to schools, PTAs, youth sports and other local non-profit organizations.
We are committed to do our part to support higher welfare conditions for farm animals. We already source a large portion of our chicken from a Global Animal Partnership (Step 3 or higher) certified farm; and by early 2018, we will procure 100% of our chicken from farms that achieve an animal welfare certification recognized by REAL Certified and ASPCA® Shop With Your Heart. Furthermore, by 2020, 100% of our chicken will be sourced from farms with standards that meet or better Global Animal Partnership’s (GAP) standards for broiler breeds and rearing conditions (including lighting, litter, enrichment and stocking density). We will also make sure that our birds are processed in a system that utilizes a pre-shackle multi-step controlled-atmosphere processing system that’s widely hailed as more humane. The requirements above are important for improving animal welfare and compliance will be verified via third party auditing.
